Boost your employee engagement strategy with the priority matrix

Screenshot of priority matrix in Xref Employee Engagement Surveys

The Xref Engage priority matrix shows a high-level analysis of an organisation’s employee engagement survey data. It can help inform your employee engagement strategies by identifying the focus areas most likely to be effective for driving improvements in your organisation.

At a glance, it helps you to see:

  • Strengths – practices that should be maintained and/or built upon, and
  • Priorities – lower performing areas that could be improved to drive higher engagement, wellbeing and progress for your staff and your organisation.

The matrix can explore organisation level results, and team level results where 30 or more employees completed the engagement survey.

A priority matrix for an example organisation’s survey data is shown below.

Identifying priorities

Organisational practices are positioned on the matrix based on:

1. Performance

The relative performance of current organisational practices. Performance is assessed based on both staff satisfaction ratings and how these results compare to industry benchmarks.

2. Impact

The degree that each practice is likely to drive engagement, wellbeing and progress. Impact is assessed by analysing the strength of correlation between work practices and the outcomes of engagement, wellbeing and progress.

The video provides more detail about how the priority matrix is created, and how to interpret performance and impact information.
